We Broke It!

Wow. Dr. Lester Collins, CoC Performance Analyst took a little longer to crunch the numbers this week, because there were more of them to crunch!

Well, the crunching sound died down a few minutes ago, and we’re, uh, well… What can we say, we are stunned. There is no other way to put it.

When we started the 90 in 90 Emergency Shelter Challenge, we were hopeful and optimistic. We knew that with the maturation of our homeless response system, and with players like Austin Street Center, The Bridge Homeless Recovery Center, and the The Salvation Army DFW in the game, our chances were good.

However, it’s a little scary to put yourself out there, and lay down a marker. What happens if you don’t reach it? That could be embarrassing.

OK, we’ll stop stalling. Here it is: During the week of May 13-19, our partners housed 32 people, bringing the total in the 90 in 90 Emergency Shelter Challenge, since April 1, 2018 to… 104 people. (Pssssst: That’s more than 90.)

Basically, we broke the challenge, and we’re not at all sorry that we did! Congratulations to our partners, and especially to our now FORMERLY homeless friends.
